Alex Guzman’s research involves understanding the scope and magnitude of late Holocene climatic coastal events through remnants in the stratigraphic column. By using largely quantitative data, including geochemical analysis, he hopes to better understand certain past processes with a sharper granularity.
Alex brings his background in physics, spatial studies and earth science to the UC Water Academy. He hopes to make a contribution to the mission of the UC Water team while simultaneously benefiting from the collective knowledge of the group.
Alex is in his final year of undergraduate studies at UC Santa Barbara, studying Earth Science with the intention of attending graduate school. Currently he is a member of Dr. Simms' lab. He is most at home in the mountains.
